Festival of Work – People First. Change Ready

Not all change feels like transformation. Most of it feels like… everything changing, all at once. If you’re working in HR, leadership, or people strategy right now… there’s a good chance you’re being asked to navigate that reality without a clear map.Not just the big, visible transformation programmes but the constant, cumulative change happening underneath:💠 shifting priorities💠 new systems💠 evolving expectations💠 continuous restructuring💠 “just one more initiative” Individually, they might feel manageable. Together… they create a level of pressure that’s harder to name, but very real for the people experiencing it. 🔶 Leaders expected to deliver transformation and maintain engagement🔶 Teams adapting again before the last change has fully landed🔶 HR balancing strategic impact with day-to-day reality🔶 And organisations trying to move forward without exhausting their people And yet… the expectation is still the same….“MAKE IT WORK.” That’s why events like the Festival of Work 2026 really matter. Not because they have all the answers but because they create space to step out of the noise and engage with the conversations that don’t always get airtime:🔸 What actually makes change stick?🔸 Why do some teams adapt while others stall?🔸 How do we build leaders who can navigate uncertainty, not just manage process?🔸 And how do […]

Hope is underestimated….

The more I researched and wrote ‘The Architecture of Hope’, the more convinced I became that HOPE is one of the most underestimated forces both personally and inside organisations today. Not hope as blind optimism, but hope as our ability to believe progress is still possible, even during uncertainty, challenge and change using 1 or more of the 5 themes of hope I describe in my book. Researchers such as Snyder and Lopez explored hope as something far more practical than many people assume connected to motivation, pathways forward, resilience and human progress. And the more I reflected on this through my own experiences and years of working with organisations navigating uncertainty, the more I started to see hope differently. Not simply as emotion, but as a fundamental infrastructure. Because when hope disappears:➡️ adaptability weakens➡️ trust erodes➡️ people disengage➡️ and progress quietly slows That’s why the book explores hope through both:🔶 a modern illustrated parable (the story I use is set at an airport)🔶 and a practical framework grounded in leadership, adaptability and real-world experience I’ve also been hugely encouraged by the support of people whose thinking I respect greatly, including Ross Thornley, MABP, who kindly wrote: “If you’ve ever wondered […]

CIPD Festival of Work

🥳 EXCITING NEWS……(yes twice in one week) 🥳 We’re delighted to share that the Resourceful People Group Ltd will be attending the Festival of Work 2026 this June (10-11th) at the ExCeL London. For us, this event really matters because the world of work is changing faster than ever. Organisations are navigating uncertainty, transformation, shifting expectations, evolving leadership challenges, wellbeing pressures, AI, adaptability, and the ongoing question of how we create environments where people and performance can genuinely thrive together. That’s exactly why conversations like these matter. At RPG, we believe successful change doesn’t happen by accident. It happens when organisations focus on how to deliver the strategy and have a coherent people strategy to deliver. That is why our focus for the 2 days is going to be “PEOPLE FIRST. CHANGE READY”. Over the two days, we’ll be sharing more about the work we do across:🔶 Leadership & organisational development🔶 Emotional and Adaptability Intelligence (EQ & AQ)🔶 Adaptability & resilience🔶 Change & reinvention🔶 1-2-1 & team coaching programs through our unique Scrum Up ® development program and our unique Growth Mirror Guide ® AI tool🔶 plus we will be continuing to launch my new book called “The Architecture of Hope” Most importantly, […]

The Architecture of Hope

There’s something very different about holding a physical copy of something that, not that long ago, only existed as a thought. And then slowly, through early mornings, late evenings, and more rewrites than I care to admit, it becomes something real. This weekend, I received the first physical copy of The Architecture of Hope 🎉 And if I’m honest, it’s a mix of pride, relief, excitement, curiosity… and a quiet question of “what happens next?” Because this was never about writing a book for the sake of it. It was about trying to make sense of something I’ve seen time and time again, in organisations, teams, and individuals plus my own personal experience in the last few years. That in uncertain moments, what really makes the difference isn’t just strategy, process, or experience. It’s something less tangible, but I believe is incredibly powerful. 🔶 The concept, the meaningful infrastructure and application of HOPE 🔶 . In the book we explain that HOPE is not just a feeling or blind optimism. But much more powerful based on our research and something that can be recognised, shared, and even facilitated for others to benefit from. That’s what this book explores, through a modern, […]

INSIGHT®..ful !

Last week had another great session with an existing client but in a completely new (but stunning) location that they hired for the day (Westiminster College, University of Cambridge). Our client wanted to spend time with it’s senior team on exploring & learning to a) become more self aware and b) to be able to read others better (both each other & also external stakeholders), in relation to emotional intelligence and how to leverage the most out of their own and also others personalities. The feedback was again very kind and complementary we obviously used the fabulous Insights Discovery assessment tool & their wider wheel, exploring Jungian Theory in real time but also had some real fun including how to invite each other to a ‘fictitious’ Hogwarts Quidditch party using our Resourceful People Group Ltd facilitators dice as the driver to create many fictitious characters / styles. The day ended focusing on exploring stakeholders (who & where they were, how important are they and what we want to do with them) – which I will share more detail on another post. So what was my personal refection on the day. It was great to see a truly motivated and committed […]

Adapting / Changing / Reinventing ….

Most change doesn’t fail at the start. It fades afterwards. Here at Resourceful People Group Ltd we see the energy, the intention, the shift, in teams, regardless of whether it’s a bold transformation or a series of smaller steps. For a while, it feels real. But change doesn’t embed in the moment itself. It embeds in what happens next. It’s more like a river finding its course — sometimes redirected suddenly, sometimes shaped slowly, but always defined by the path it continues to take. And in organisations, that path is carved through everyday choices. In how conversations are held, in which priorities are protected, and in what leaders choose to notice or let pass. Over time, these moments create new pathways or quietly return to old ones. Because old habits don’t disappear; they wait for the current to slow. So sustaining change isn’t about doing more. It’s about remaining open minded, be willing to unlearn and staying with it long enough for new behaviours to flow naturally. Perhaps that’s where adaptability and reinvention really sits — in the ongoing act of adapting, noticing, and choosing to move differently, even when the spotlight has moved on. Here is a simple reflection […]

Finalists 🎉

Delighted to share that Resourceful People Group Ltd are finalists for the Bedfordshire SME awards, in partnership with Bedfordshire Chamber of Commerce. The category that we are finalists for is the Business Innovation Category which is reflecting the work on our ground breaking RPG – SCRUM UP® personal development program (integrating a range of tools including the fabulous AQai – Adaptability Assessments & Coaching & Insights Discovery tools) , the creation of our RPG – Growth Mirror Guide® AI coaching tool and also the soon to be published new book (more to be released shortly about that 👀 ) So it is amazing to be honoured as a finalist, in the company with other great nominees, and time will tell (18th June) the next steps but the fact that we are finalists is simply fantastic – so thank you ! For us, what is both amazing and exciting is that these innovations are not theoretical and we are honoured to be working with our clients using these proactively and pragmatically with them, making a difference both individually and within the wider organisation.

Leaders don’t need to be perfect….

…. but they do need to be consistent, especially under pressure, because pressure doesn’t create behaviour, it reveals it. When leadership shifts unpredictably, people notice. Not always consciously, but enough to change how they show up.They second-guess, they read the room, they spend energy working out what’s expected. That’s where performance quietly drains. This is where emotional and adaptability intelligence (EQ & AQ) matter.EQ helps you notice how pressure is affecting you, AQ helps you choose to adapt and respond. Not perfectly, but intentionally. Because consistency isn’t about always being calm. It’s about being reliable in how you show up, even when things are difficult. In our work at Resourceful People Group Ltd, we often see how small shifts in self-awareness and adaptability through using tools like Insights Discovery®, ESCI ® and AQai – Adaptability Assessments & Coaching ® and proactive 1-2-1 &/or team coaching create a more stable, trusted leadership experience. This is why we focus on ‘People First. Change Ready’. Here are just 2 questions worth reflecting on: How do people experience YOU when pressure rises? And how intentional is that experience? Contact us ( 📩 info@resourcefulpeoplegroup.com or ☎️ 01234 989100) to find out how we have helped many individuals, teams […]

Finding Your Tribe

So today I’ve had the privilege of spending time with two wonderful humans who are part of the Resourceful People Group Ltd team. We have spent time planning working with a great client and also getting ready for a cool event that we will be announcing in more detail very shortly. But one of the things that we loved was a sign in a shared working area called x+why in Birmingham, which basically stated ‘Find your tribe’. Jen and Lucy are definitely my ‘tribe’ and exactly what our clients love about RPG as along with Mike we focus on being “People First, Change Ready”. Here at RPG we love working with clients that want to be change ready. Are you ready? Lucy Quick Jen Brierley-Masheter Mike Hood Chartered FCIPD Steve Botterill

Most change programmes are built around what needs to change.

👀 Few are designed around how that change is experienced and how the team can truly leverage the opportunity that is in front of them 👀 . Even the most positive change disrupts something – routines, confidence, identity, control and when that disruption isn’t acknowledged, resistance doesn’t always push back. It often goes quiet. You can start to see compliance vs engagement and commitment fades, energy drops and questions can stop coming. It’s easy to label this as “lack of buy-in”. But more often, it’s something else. It can be either a lack of space to process, or a lack of the tools and skills, for both team members and team leaders to navigate change well. Because people rarely resist change itself, they struggle with what it means for them. Change is far more likely to stick when people are given:🔶 the tools and skills to navigate it🔶 clarity of purpose & hope🔶 and the space (not necessarily the time itself) to make sense of it — emotionally as well as logically The reality is that work doesn’t sit neatly on a project plan, but it’s usually the difference between change that lands…and change that lingers. Are you ‘tooling’ up your […]
